First off, it was nice meeting everyone on Satuday. I had a great time, and hopefully next month I will have some very bad beer for everyone to sample.
I did talk with a few about you about Conical Fermentors. I basically need to start asembling my brewing equipment from scratch again. I am considering purchasing one of these:
The Noresco ones ship out of Georgia so the cost is of shipping is reasonable and would come to about $76 delivered and would probably make my own stand for it.
I think the biggest issue is reducing the outlet on the bottom so when you drain the sediment, you do not dump a few gallons of wort. But there are several guides to converting these to conical fermentors on the web including this one:

Is the recommendation that this is good, or not. I've wanted for a long time a conical, but they have always been price prohibitive for me. _________________ BottleTree..... Drink No Evil

I found a little more information on other sites on these. The feedback seems to be pretty good. The trouble with plastic is cleaning and being careful not to scratch it. But it seems like a good price compared to the $180 7 gallon plastic conical that is sold at a lot of the mail order places.
My question at the meeting was related to using it for 5 gallon batches which I was told was OK. At the moment I am debating whether or not I will equip myself for 10 gallon batches. It just might be too much for me.

I've been told an orange carboy cap fits on the top of a standard 15 gallon keg. No stand needed and you can ferment 10 gallons. It's not conical, but others in the club ferment great beers in these kegs. Just something to consider...!
