This weekend is supposed to be sunny and warm. I am going to be re-designing my hop trellis and starting some new mounds for some of my more vigorous Hops.
I think the kent golding are gone for good. They barely reached 1 foot last years. While my Cascades finally showed some life and started to go crazy.
I'll keep you updated. _________________ Haven't brewed anything lately but I taught a new homebrewer the basics a few weeks back and brewed an IPA. |

I thought I would add to you your thread instead of starting my own since its the same general subject. Does anyone have some hop seed varieties they could give me at the next meeting.
while I'm posting Ill ask another question about brewing. From what I can tell mead comes from honey and only honey, maybe hops too. Is this true and can you do something similar with molasses and maple syrup or is that not much better than using sucrose? |

You don't want seeds. You want rhizomes (or roots) that you plant. In the past there have been some folks giving them away at club meetings in the spring. _________________ "People who drink light 'beer' don't like the taste of beer; they just like to pee alot."

| let me rephrase that, I know you can make a fermented drink from molasses or maple syrup, I'm just wondering if it will taste worthwhile, or will it not taste much better than using sugar? If so, can anyone recommend some brands or recipes. |

| I'd like to know this as well. Also, I've been thinking about using agave to mix in with some sugars, how would that do? Anybody got any ideas? |

I made an lightly hopped agave braggot (agave sweetener and malt extract) a couple of years ago. The agave acted much like a very mild honey and fermented out to the point that I could not detect it's presence. Like honey, it dried out the batch as well. While I thought it was an interesting experiment, I don't plan on re-doing the agave braggot, if only for the cost of the agave sweetener. Honey is less expensive and gives a more interesting flavor.
