Thinking about brewing two weekends in a row- a stout is planned first then a big IPA. Would simply rack the stout to the secondary and then pitch the IPA into the primary carboy that just held the stout. Is there a problem with subjecting the yeasties to such a different wort? I'm not really concerned about the color effect the yeast cake may have on the IPA...

I wouldnt worry about it - done it several times in the past. You may see some color change and slight (i dont think you can tell) flavor difference though as you mention. But for the savings and ease, I say do it do it.

I do it all the time. If I'm not going to be brewing for a couple weeks, I'll wash the yeast, put the clean yeast in a couple mason jars and cover it with Bud/Miller/Coors (why waste real beer?).

I use this method frequently, but I always go from lighter to darker to avoid the small color pick-up which will occur going from darker to lighter.

Be sure to aerate the second round well.
